Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs have long been implemented across corporate, educational, and nonprofit sectors to promote diverse and inclusive workplaces. These initiatives aim to foster environments where individuals of all backgrounds have opportunities to thrive.

However, on January 22, former President Donald Trump signed an executive order eliminating DEI programs within the federal workforce, federal contracting, and federal spending. According to the White House website, the order "terminates ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI) discrimination in the federal workforce, and in federal contracting and spending. Federal hiring, promotions, and performance reviews will reward individual initiative, skills, performance, and hard work and not, under any circumstances, DEI-related factors, goals, policies, mandates, or requirements."
While this executive order does not yet directly impact ReadyOne Industries—since the company operates under the AbilityOne Program, which prioritizes employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities—it does raise broader concerns about the future of workplace diversity efforts.

Craig Wellons, President and CEO of ReadyOne Industries, emphasizes the ongoing importance of DEI principles in the workforce. “Diversity, equity, and inclusion training is important. It goes to the heart of who ReadyOne is and speaks to our core values. We strive to create a workplace built on respect, safety, and support. That’s what we stand for—we offer support to the disability community,” says Wellons.
With 75% of its workforce composed of individuals with disabilities, ReadyOne remains committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where every employee is valued and empowered.
